Day 9**** Past and the Present

Ever checked out your local community  or recreation center on utilized your child's Youth center on base / We explored our local community events brochure to come up with this great deal that was completely "FREE" . This is what we did :
Fun, fun day spent the day with our child enjoying baseball or as we say in my country of origin Beisbol. Anywho,  it was great , not many people came out to the event, the prospect of rain scared them off, their loss our gain. It was a bummer after all the kids would've scored free baseballs, a sharpie a meet and greet session with the players, oh well, their loss our gain.  As I attend the event, I thought how it was for me as a child and the fascination and excitement that brewed when I attended these events with my sibling and parents, this experience seemed to resonate in my child's mind as well. We had a great day, catching baseballs, watching the players, running bases and pitching . We eat  for virtually free via coupons given to us at the event by sonic staff, then off to get our amazing great deal : Mega Minds video, w/ free hot dog buns, hot dogs, Kraft cheese and macaroni and a box of Capri sun, score a great deal at only $20.00 w/tax  At your local Safeway graocery store. We ended our day with a great movie . Thank you God for memories and happy experiences.

Day 8*** Celebrating LOVE - NOT US ARMY Property

Been busy, family obligations and trumpets. Celebrated Valentine's Day with hubby  finally:  a year he is physically here by my side with me to celebrate this time of love and he is all mine not property of the US Military! HOAH!!! Our lil one was also a part of our celebration as well, after all our lil one is a part of this celebration too ! Kids included - not just a couples day. I must say we celebrated in style and comfort ;  enjoyed our the food, the wonderful ambiance and lastly our time together ! We enjoyed ourselves so much Military Mommy/Wife was an exhausted queen I got home and crashed on the couch! Hubby took charge and assumed the Mommy role ! I loved it and must say he did... A WONDERFUL job !  Great job Hun!  In addition to the V-Day celebration we celebrated our many years of marriage we are under ten but more than five and the roads have not always been straight nor perfect but the roads traveled to get here has been worth the time, effort and energy, I can only thank God for our blessings and I have to thank all who prayed and ensured we had God in  our hearts. Marriage cannot survive without the grace and presence of GOD!

I have taken  the time out to ponder what the  true meaning of Valentine's Day is? Is it a  celebration of love ?  Or celebration of Couples/ Celebration of life in general ? What is it? What does it truly represent?  From my own observation, I have noticed that this is a very commercialized day and I can also say in my opinion a selfish one too, it reminds me of a competition ..who can get their loved one/soon to be loved one  the biggest token of appreciation then manage to flaunt it in front of others .  Another observation is that  most people focus on others  I think we need to focus on loving ourselves first. After all, you cannot fully love another unless you love yourself, psst . you have to first embrace your issues, flaws and perceived misfortunes. To sum it all, I  term  Valentine's day; the celebration of loving ones self.  Enjoy your day! and keep loving YOURSELF!

Day *** 7 - Can you Really overbook yourself ?

I believe I have done it again, overbooked my agenda with meetings, projects, commitments and life. How do I keep running into this problem? I get this sense of urgency to accomplish something after I have completed a task, I think I need to do something else without realizing how busy I already am. Yikes!  Yes,this is my feeling. Opps! I did it again overbooked to no end. Well, sadly I have to cancel another commitment in order to be available for my family, not sad because I have to cancel and be with family ,but for the fact, I have wasted another person's time as they expected me, anticipated my presence. I sit back and think, God are you talking to me right now? You must be;  know that I am listening. Sure enough, I realize the cancellation was all for a purpose.  God, "Thank you" for the sign.   So, in short, follow your mind, sometimes things are just not meant to be. We think at the time when we make the commitment it is do or die but nothing in life is, it is all a part of God's plan. Therefore, do not beat up yourself if a commitment cannot be made. Life happens.
Things to help you along the way: Visit your local chapel on base we have the church mass at noon daily, other things to do might be to read the bible ot help you calm down and get the necessary focus, other ideas include my very cherished all allover benefit activity do YOGA !!!! Namaste.

Day 6***

Was on Twitter and got a request to be followed by a VET ororganization, I told hubby how funny hope I did not mention something that offended someone... then I started to think , this blog is not about offending others it is about what is going on in my life and this life we live as a military family.  So with that said... I could careless if I offend someone I am not here to please another nor is anyone else we are placed on this earth to live within our Life's plan designated by God.
The military life lends it self to experiences that others fail to understand, re have a young child who is definitely going thru separation anxiety, the tears are rampant and the need to be close is common. The teacher told me that she approached our child and they began to cry, I explained there is a separation anxiety issue that exist, she of course , could not understand and said, "Dad is home now , what's the problem?" Simply ,not the case, just because daddy maybe home children still suffer , they need their parents home 24/7 and since the military only allots a few weeks for the soldier to get back to society and bond with their family the kids and the family are left in a numb like stage. Because a soldier must return to his life in the civilian world he must return to work ASAP to provide shelter, food and care for his family  even if the soldier is wounded.  In between all this the soldier is to meet all his scheduled appointments military and medical, leaving he family alone again.  so this is why  some children suffer greatly with the separation anxiety.   Our child was provided the care we know ... LOVE and things are better today.

Children are affected too

Crazy title? Not really, most people do not think of the cause and  effect deployment plays on the minds of our young family members. We have a young child and one minute things are going great , then next it is an outburst of crying, emotional trauma to sever frustration. We know deployments affect our young ones but the emotions just hit over the head like a ton of bricks. It's overwhelming to the point where you as a parent wonders why can I do, how can I help the child ?  More love, back off on the love, it's challenging but we will get through this patch as most or all military families do. We love our young ones and will do the best we can to help them deal with the stresses and emotions our world bestows upon them.  Think of the military child and support military children and families allover a  great place to start:
OurMiltary kids.org  - assist families with providing free activities for the military child while soldier is deployed.

Operation Kids comfort /Armed Services YMCA - Quilters spend their valuable time volunteering to quilt blankets for military kids (0-5) and pillows for kids (6  and older) these quilters are the best we have our blanket which has nine pictures of our family on the quilt and it is beautiful and our child loves, loves, loves this blanket and we will cherish this blanket forever!

Operation Homefront - I tell you, I cannot tell you how much support this organization has been to our family, from the Back to School Driv &  Christmas Shopping Spree  with the strong support of $1 Store to private donations this place is a blessing and the staff is a blessing as well.

Militaryfamiles.org- Great resource for various needs, from scholarships to family trips for the soldier and the family.

USO- Oh This hands down is the organization everyone needs to donate to, they make our soldiers feel right at home, these volunteers make us proud, eventhough as a spouse I did not have to encounter them my soldier was blessed to have meet them on several occasions these heroes make our soldiers feel WELCOME, sometime embarrassed as they fell they are just doing a job, but most of the volunteers know what it was like when they came home no one was there to support their efforts so they pass on their love, commitment and brotherhood to fellow soldiers. THANK YOU USO!  As my hubby says.. " HOOAH!" We <3 you !
Bottom line, Support our  Troops and their families especially our little ones they need our support !

DAY 5**

????What's on my mind????
Today my mind is jumbled: many things to do and I am overwhelmed. Hubby tells me his job is qustioning his need  for VA Appointments, not certain why? Let's see, he experienced an injury while deployed so he  gets to see a doctor and "Yes" the VA is open during business hours 7A-4P Mon-Fri and "No" you cannot select your own appointment dates nor times they schedule them for you. Here's the deal.... you miss it too bad you had better expect to wait a good three months if you are lucky to be seen. So smart people keep there appointments!
I have to evict a tenant , ugh ! I hate evictions  but rules are clear :Sign a lease,  Reside somewhere, with the understanding that you have to pay for your stay, there are No free rides! Geez! people can make life easy but they choose to make it difficult.
I am ill and have upcmoing commitments thinking about cancelling but hate to leave a bad impression, then there's the oh suck it up thought and go it's for your own goodand your childs, then there's the thought... "Hey, you are sick"  Stop worrying about what
others think! After writing that , I have come to the conclusion that I think way too much !
Then there's the classroom party Ms. Party Planner here, decided to be on this committee but it's turned into the committee of "ME" therefore, I have to come up with the plans, but I will get it.   I am going on and on, it's time to let the mind relax before the real work begins , the family will be home  soon and dinner is not ready... YIKES!!!!

Day 4***

Good Morning ! Today is a great day! Extremely cold in this part of the USA , the country is experiencing what I call ... The work of God, he wants us to think long and hard about some of our choices and decisions. No global warming here. We are enjoying the day , the school has Teacher Development Day which is great timing. It is so darn cold not certain the kids would be in the mood to learn, it's all about timing, and timing has played an important role here.
Preparing my day, have errands to run, business obligations that need to be taken care of and people to see. JcPenny's is having a blowout sale on Friday  items are as low as $4.99 for a pair of slacks ! What?  I am  so there ! LOL !
With a tight economy and one income we have to truly seek out items of worth; as the mighty dollar means more to us than we all truly know!
Dinner is being made may sound a bit different but in my country we love black beans and today's menu consist of Black bean soup and a big fat  ham bone in my crockpot , smells delicious cannot forget those wonderful aromas  from the spices I have added, yummy cannot wait to devour it. Anywho, it's time to tackle life .
Ciao.

*** Note; the Joy Of cooking book is not where I got the recipe I just worked with what I have in my home , whatever stock on hand is my rule of thumb, but do love my cookbook.Must try the Banana muffins highly recommend!

Day 3 ***

Today was an eventful day, filled with visits to a friend to deliver my goodies and promt my business, then off to see my soldier. My soldier has been down today so I thought it would be great to pay him a suprise visit, and this visit I must say was not in vain! we had lunch , chatted and Enjoyed one another's company. The motto I have for today is : Take each day and live it to the fullest! I know I did  . Smile :0 )
I am surprised at the cost listed for this book, I spent a few dollars for it new and I gotta tell you this is one of my bibles.
